| | clap your hands say yeah | ] | well, last week I had some seriously shane time. he was dragged along to all sorts of things:
coffee with a friend and her new boyfriend, me getting us lost on the trains, going all around Copenhagen to "see all the sights" when it was -7 and shane only had a windbreaker and hoodie, participating in a soccer tourni with the resident Albanian fanatics, and going out with a bunch of my guy friends while i stayed behind and slept...what can I say? I was tired and and they were obsessed with shane (especially texas krisitian - see the picture below...) i was the outsider. i also made a bunch of new "girlfriends" while he was here, aka a little fan club that never talked to me before and suddenly were my best friends.
then we put him on a night train to bern, switzerland on which i had forgotten to reserve him a bed, so he had to sit all night. i am the worst host ever! but i think he had a good time, and it was great seeing someone from home here. my digicam was dead the whole time he was here, which was extremely silly and now i have no pictures...except this great one:

in other new, i've been working my tush off in school and am now officially done all my written and oral work for the program! which means: i have no more papers, projects or oral exams and just have to focus on my exams. we have mock exams all next week and then two weeks of in-class revision, while amber is visiting (more visitors = yay!), and then rome, then two more weeks at home revisions and then...exams.
i've gotten my ticket home for july 10th and can't even express how much i am looking forwards to summer -and especially summer in victoria and catching up with everyone and doing all the things allie said in her last update. also, the plan at the moment, which is semi-official is that mark is coming too. we are going to work for 6 months in victoria, maybe travel a bit after christmas, then he is coming back here to do military service and will then either travel, or work in denmark or victoria for the summer (i'm working in victoria) and then will finally have to decide about where is is doing university and thus, if we are going to be together later. as his mom is in the midst of a major freak-out over it, i'd love to hear from you guys if you think its a good idea or whatnot...
thats it for now, i'm just going to be a big nerd for the next while with studying for exams and all. tonight i am going to partake in the huge, drunken festivities that are st. patricks day in copenhagen at one of out many irish pubs. at least i'll get out once this next couple of weeks! other than that, i'll just be dreaming of all of us together on a b.c. beach.... |

Åhså, it has been a crazy month or so since i've last updated. or more likely, not so crazy really. just too lazy to write... so let's see what has happened:
- spent a lovely weekend at alex's apartment while mark was at his mom's place. we made lots of good food, had a party, a girly brunch in our pjs and watched ghostbusters with cocoa. pretty sweet. - had a school party where some local bands played. it was nice hearing live music again, its been awhile since i've been to a show. - spent the whole next day painting backdrops and designing the set for our school play. i'm such a nerd. but we got pizza. - super bowl. i have a friend that is a huge steeler's fan for who it was the best day of his life. he came to class the next day with his face painted black and gold. - promptly got sick after all this school-related activity. total bummer. - was still sick when i left for switzerland. got better and had a great time skiing and such. photos: http://www.imagestation.com/album/pictures.html?id=2108775840 - got back and had my first movie date ever with mark to see walk to the line. it was really nice. - alex had a girl's pink ladies night where we all dressed up in pink, made pink cocktails and danced to madonna and spice girls. - saw our school play, where some good friends made their debut. - went to a cozy birthday party of a friend in her cabin near the beach in a snowy forest with a bunch of girls from school. - oscar gala last night! dressed up and watched the oscars all night. and saw matchpoint. creepy. - desperate housewifes marathon with people in the dorm here. - continously throughout all of this: school, school, and more school, some good art exhibitions, coffee dates and yoga classes. - also gone through some random spurts of homesickness. i want home. and summer. badly. - been going through a bit of a freak out about lise going out with mark's brother. silly, i know. but still... - things i've been enjoying lately: moroccan mint tea, sufjan stevens, cartoons, snow in the sun, headbands, long showers. - trying to fool myself into thinking that i'm an adult and that i've got everything sorted. - nervous breakdowns about my exams and failing at life.
that's all, folks.

Dear Livejournal,
Today Mark and I slept in. Then we made pancakes and ate them in bed. And then we went back to bed again. Mmm, life is good.
It is also good because I am finally done my (mock) exams. An entire week of encruciating examinations where we had to dicuss/analyze/desribe knowledge that was obtained almost 2 years ago! Six hours a day of this then come home pass out for a bit and then about 6 more hours of cramming for the next day. Literally: sleep, eat, exams, eat, sleep, study, repeat. Basically, it was hell. And the fact that it wasn't overly successful and that the real ones are coming in bit over a month, doesn't make me feel all that reassured. But I guess it was a good thing in reptropect. Now I know how utterly screwed I really am and can just focus on that, and reviewing, for the next while.
So now, I am taking this weekend to just relax. Thinking is quite exhausting. Mark also had exams and such so we are going to have some "hjemmehygge" as you would say in Danish. Directly translated it means "home cozyness". He has been really into building and programming robots out of Lego lately. He is currently working on one that can scan and write texts in handwriting.I love my nerdy boy. He is telling me on April 4th exactly what is going on for the whole "Next Year Issue". He told me about the deadline today. It will be nice to know, know.
Amber is coming on Friday. I am much too excited for traipsing around Copenhagen with her, and taking a day trip to Sweden. Maybe it will stop snowing...
Anyways, perhaps I am not going as wild as some other people that are on their Big Adventures, but I am pretty happy.

i'm amazed at how i decide to do this, when i have a billion other things that actually need to be done. it seems like the more i have to do, the less productive i am. way to go team!
it also seems like i have finally settled back into routine here, despite trying not to. back to the typical student life of not sleeping at regular times, being hungry and poor, and rushing about reading and writing papers. although lately, i have been really happy to be with my classmates and fellow boarders here. makes life much cozier to have friends around. but speaking of friends and to answer the questions i've been getting about alex: we are okay. there is still an akwardness to our relationship that has not yet dissolved dispite being on neutral, common ground now. i think we will be fine but the whole episode just made me realize that although i've met alot of great people here and have lots of people to talk to and hang out with, i have not found anyone that is a really, really good friend and will remain one. as snobby as that sounds, it's not my fault. i blame it on being spoiled by having the best friends in the world back at home.
i've been able to spend a bit of time with mark lately, which has been really nice. on friday we baked cookies and watched breakfast and tiffany's then had tea and had a chance to really talk to each other, something which can be rare when we are so busy. on saturday we went shopping and had thai food at mark's older brother ben's place before heading to alex's housewarming where all of our close friends showed up and proceeded to have a really nice party; the kind where people aren't obnoxiously drunk and trash things. a few of us slept over and made a big brunch the next morning in our pajamas. it was a nice weekend. yesterday mark and i and another guy from the school went to go see a night photography exhibition at this modern art museum that overlooks the ocean out to sweden. it's a beautiful place and it was a great exhibition.
it's starting to feel like school is really almost over; we just ordered our funny danish 'graduation hats' and are writing our 'blue book' this weekend. which means our whole class gets together and writes funny/embarrasing things about the other people in the class, compiles it and then it gets published for everyone. it's usually a bit of a party, so it should be fun. we also have a karaoke party on saturday at our norwegian friend kim's place which should also be a blast. it will be great when school is over, but until then i'm enjoying here. although it's rather cold and snowy/icy out, so i might just be enjoying my room:

thanks to everyone for a wonderful holiday. i had a great time. i would write some of the highlights down but the whole time was one and you all know who are and how much you mean to me (alot.)
right now, I can help but feel like i want to be back at home. this is probably because I have really bad jet lag and also caught some sort of sickness on the plane which i've also passed to mark. so between this, the massive amounts of school work that i have no motivation to do and nostalgia of cozy christmas times, i'm regretting getting on that plane. itis also so freezing cold and snowy here that i have resolved to never go outside again.
although, there have been good times here as well. mark and i had our "christmas" on friday night with a little tree and our presents and tea and cookies and general festive-ness. that was really nice. i got tickets to see the rolling stones, which i'm pretty excited about and lots of other neato things. and on saturday alex, laura and i went to see the hip-hop version of the nutcracker at tivoli which was extrememly well done with amazing non-cheesy breakdancing, great costumes and a half pipe stage. and then out for coffee and such at our favorite place.
well...i shouldn't be complaining and i'm sure i will be feeling much better soon. hope everyone is great and i love you all lots and lots.

...was pretty much amazing. i heart london, greek food and beaches, and the Bernster. we had a great time.
(pictures here: http://www.imagestation.com/album/pictures.html?id=2118303281)
getting back was a bit hard, i wanted to get on the plane with my dad. but it only took a while to get back in the routine of things. and it was great seeing people, especially mark who had a great time in morocco and who i missed. we had a birthday celebration for me last saturday and mark made me banana pancakes in bed. then we watched a movie, went for a long walk in the forest and jumped in the leaves and then came back and made sushi and green tea. made me thing of all of you girls, we really need to have a sushi party at christmas.
and i have officially seen the last of hitler! this was celebrated by alot of pizza, junk food and o.c. with the girls here. although there isnt much time to relax, we have a ton of work right now for some reason.
halloween was also pretty good this year. we had a halloween party on friday and made jack-o-laterns. i was a cereal killer for the party, which again, no one got. i'm just not appreciated here. i was also appropriately festive on monday. i dressed in orange and black and yelled 'Happy Halloween!' to everyone i saw. again, not appreciated! so mark and i made pumpkin pie and watched the nightmare before christmas.
i'm liking live right now. hope everyone else is too. |

friday: beer cup! an event, suprisingly actually sponsered by the school where class play againt each other for the football 'cup' and well, drink a lot of beer. each class/team has a theme where you have to dress up. ours was cowboys and indians. i was an indian (in a very politically uncorrect way)i had a lot of fun. and we didn't win because the team we were playing against cheated. it happened to be mark's class. we won our other game by stripping and putting our clothes into the longest 'clothes chain'. mmm, and we had chinese take away afterwards. fun fun. pictures: http://www.imagestation.com/album/pictures.html?id=2119819292
saturday: it was gray and rainy, so we had a o.c. marathan with lots of tea and blankets. very cozy. i had stayed home to try and get all the homework i had done. i didn't. went to michael's place in nyhavn with a small group of girls, forced him to feed us, let us dress him up and take him our with us as the token gay (or not) best friend. had a great time embarassing the pants off him at our favorites bars.
sunday: got up early to go to the premiere of the bill murray movie 'broken flowers' (which i know already came and left canadian movie theaters) with mark, alex and her sister. they had a breakfast/movie showing where you got tea and coffee and pastries and newspapers before the movie was shown. nice sunday morning. afterwards mark and i went to the kings square/garden and got a wonderful bagel sandwhich before walking along the harbour and checking out the danish design centre's exhibition on the future of danish design. lovely lovely day. it was sunny. now i should really be doing my work. math test tomorrow :(
p.s. my mom got a (semi) boyfriend! i'm not sure if its supposed to be on the dl not so keep it there for now.

Well, i'm sad to say (or not, actually) that my Hitty paper was finally due and handed in on Monday. Unfortunately, I was out partying with my other favorite German, Manu until 6a.m. Sunday morning. He does the best impression of Hitty i've ever seen (might help that he is actually german) which i made him do at a Danish college party. He was a hit. So after working on the paper not very successfully on friday and opting for o.c. and junk food, i finished the writing on saturday before we met up with Lise and Manu. We went to the moose bar because we are canadian, no that has nothing to do with, it its a neuvo bohemian bar with a cave like room wallpapered in drawings and scrawls from previous visitors of little wooden tables and hipsters. dk was playing turkey which is a big deal if you are european and live in one of those countries, so we watched some of the game and then played our own fooseball game couples against couples. mark and i totally kicked ass, which is a surprising feat considering my skills. then went to a beach bar to get passion fruit daquiris (so good) and listen to the beach boys and snopp dogg. then headed to mark's brother joseph's beautiful dorm where there was first a little part in one of the rooms then a massive party in the party room downstairs where people were grooving to dope beats like the ghostbusters theme remixed. then went back to joseph's room to make sandwiches then to lise's ghetto dorm a few blocks away to drink wine and have a friendly conversation about hitler before mark and i took the bus home with a bunch of drunks as it was getting light. gross. spent ALL sunday making footnotes and an appendix and bibliography etc etc. after it was handed in monday a bunch of classmates and i had pizza in cph and walked around nyhavn and had a drink and watched dodgeball at my friends apartment. nice old fashioned fun. the next night lise and manu came over for a lovely dinner (which i made) and then we just had more beer and talked euro politics. more good old fashioned (alcoholic) fun. last night was more o.c. (i'm trying to catch up, ok?) and chilling outside since the weather is suprisingly nice lately. basically, slacking off this week. i'm too cool for school. and i just got elected for student council. not sure how that will work out...

Because i have been hanging out with Hitler 24/7 this week...we are totally BFF! Yeah, extended essay is great. Why am i doing this again and not on the beach with all of you? Hmm. I hate my life. Anyways, as this promises to be the most boring post ever i decided to add some cam whore shots from before the summer for everyone: http://www.imagestation.com/album/pictures.html?id=2121641371 Yay.
Other excitments from this week include:
- My Girl 2
- Jeffery - a somewhat punkish guy who just left a cult called The Family where he has lived in communal homes with his parents and his 22 (yes, 22) siblings in different third world countries with no music, tv, fashion, or any contact with the rest of society. We are going to have a movie night soon, as he hasnt seen any movies in his life.
- Glossy pages.
Thats all, folks. i'll try to get a life by next week. Gotta go watch the O.C. (someone brought back the dvd so now we all watch the old seasons on sundays and pretend like we are in a normal society.)

Since most people dont really have any idea of what the place i'm in looks like, i thought i would take some pictures when i went to Copenhagen on Saturday and it was a lovely sunny day and the city looked gorgeous. You can see the album (i'm still protesting against lj photo posts) here: http://www.imagestation.com/album/pictures.html?id=2122014576
Besides that exciting news, this is my so-called life as of now:
School and boarding school have been extremely stressful to the point where I am on the verge of tears at some point almost everyday and my eye has been twitching on and off for the good part of the morning. But, on a more positive note, I'm really enjoying being with my class and fellow boarders for the second year as everyone is so much more comfortable and close with each other. Its just alot of work, but Prague class trip in less than a month! At least there are things to look forward to...
Apart from school which takes up a lot of my week, there have been alot of social activities to add to the stress/fun depending on which way you looks at it. Last weekend was basically in high demand akak triple booked for the whole time. One of my good friends Karina (she's Danish but from Holland) was turning 18 on Saturday so she had a class party on Friday and a huge fancy dinner/dance on Saturday for her family and friends from Denmark and also alot of Dutch people came up. On the Friday I had been running around and shopping for her present and missed dinner, which on top of hardly getting any sleep the entire week due to parties and seeing people at the boarding school, turned out to be a bad idea mixed with a few glasses of surprisingly strong punch. I proceeded to get extremely sick and pass out in the bathroom until my classmates carried me out and got her older brother to drive me home and i was put to bed. Uh, embarassing? The next day we had a boarding school activity/intro day which I decided to opt out on due to the state I was in. Iwas glad I did in the end because it turned out to be some crazy survivor-in-the-forest type thing where you had to build boats and climb ropes across trees and crazy shit. Of course Mark and his team won. What a weirdo. I slept for most of the day and then rushed to get ready for the next party trying to dress, do hair and make up and catch a cab in 10 minutes. The dinner turned out to be insanely fancy, like it was Karina's wedding. There we people catering this 5 course meal, people in ball gowns and tuxes, live music and speeches, toasts and all that jazz. Quite fun and Karina got to be a Princess for a night. There was also lots of scandal with people here last weekend (and this one as well). Its really gross actually, its like the ravaging of the fresh meat. Everyone is all over each other/sleeps around/cheats and fights all the time. Its great.
The last week has been a bit more relaxed, I spent the week enjoying the sunshine, checking out some art shows, going to my friend's place in Copenhagen to meet his American family, and of course school work and organization for the study trip. Oh, and we also had this photographer following us around for a day and taking pictures of us all the time because he was doing 'A Day in an IB Student's Life' project for some contest thing. The photos are going to be in this big show and probably the newspaper too. Pretty hilarious. This weekend was a bit more relaxed too. Friday was a party for all the new kids so the some of the old kids and I made sandwiches in Alex's new sandwich maker and watched the amazing movie My Girl.So good.. Last night was another friends 18 birthday party which is a really big deal here. It was a really nice party with a bonfire, tents with lanterns and cushions, a dance floor in her amazingly nice house/mansion, and free beer. It was a fun party but I started to get a bit irritated with all the obnoxious drunk Danes after a while. They are so unfriendly until they drink alot and it just makes me mad that you have to get toasted to have a good night. I went home early, got attacked by sprinklers and was awoken by a massive spider crawling up my leg. Pretty much the usual. Anways, I should get back to procrastinating my work. Love to all and sorry for the long post! |

First of all I would like to give a shout out to all my hommies in V Dot for helping to make this summer one of the best in my life. It was so amazing to get to see (almost) everyone and to get to kick it west coast style for a while. But its not to bad being back in Denmark either. Its been super busy already with catching up with people, meeting new people that just moved into the boarding school, intro activities for this year, all the work we have in school, prep for our school trip to Prague next month, and LOTS of parties. So I can't complain. The only thing thats suffering here is my tan - the weather here sucks, its been cold and raining the whole summer and we've been having thunder and lightning storms too. Here is a photo album I made of some of the pictures from this summer because I have completely given up on using lj for posting pictures. http://www.imagestation.com/album/pictures.html?id=2122454484 Hope you're all having a blast... |
